Chinese and Acrylic Ink Paintings!
UPDATED POST – August 18, 2012:
As of July 20, 2012 all of my Watercolour and Chinese Ink paintings have been moved to www.wendiedonabie.com, a site devoted to my art. The Chinese Ink work is catalogued under the Gallery – Symbolic Images and Stylized Landscapes.
Original Post: Last year I began experimenting with Chinese Ink on watercolour paper to create stylistic Jack Pine Trees. I feel an affinity with these trees identifying human characteristics in them; the names of the paintings reflect this.
While working with the Chinese Ink I learned about Acrylic Ink. Combining the two allows me to create high contrast works with watercolour effects.
You’ll notice that two of the pictures at www.wendiedonabie.com are works on canvas which offered special challenges (i.e. Pears and Moonlit Wood – under the Gallery – Realistic). Canvas is not porous like paper; it took some time and patience to understand what would and wouldn’t work. I like the final result and plan to do more ink on canvas in the near future.
I welcome and invite your feedback!
Thanks for taking a look….. Wendie
